nietzche has some interesting perspectives as to why. if there is no god to worship, then what can take its place? money? power? self indulgence? if the masses could be normal about this, then it wouldnt bring up an issue; but because of the way humans work at this scale, the implications of secularism could be catastrophic. not because god is a real thing to worship, but because people need god as a barrier from chaos
