if your politics don’t say anything about your character, why do people vote based on their values in the first place? politics dictates how people think others should be treated. i’m not obligated to stay connected with people whose values don’t align with mine.

We have differing opinions about different subjects, but thats makes us distictive individuals and i rather have my ideologies challenged by somebody with a different opinion then be constantly validated. ESPECIALLY if your a liberal id still be friends with you even if you have different values than myself because as a person you and me would be friends. How you treat and engage with people in the world IS politics. Character directly intertwines with politics. I would not be friends with a Trump supporter because I know that they’re bigoted, which harms everybody around them. It’s easy to be friends with leftists because we actually understand and appreciate people who are different from ourselves. I want *everybody* to be safe and supported, even people like you. But I’d never be *friends* with you.

i’m all for having my views challenged, ive had those conversations. but after years of hearing the justifications and excuses, i’ve realized this isn’t just a disagreement over policy anymore. if someone still supports this administration after everything we’ve seen and heard, that’s their inconceivable choice. and it’s my choice to decide i don’t want that energy in my life anymore

Every trump supporter is not, “bigoted” and you generalizing it just shows how uninformed you are or your biases really blue your vision of the whole picture. Conservatives like myself voted for trump to stabilize the economy which was inflated by the biden administration AND kamala Harris was a thrown in substitute since biden got dementia. If anything, you could argue liberals are bigoted against certain groups such as christians, working class, or even gun owners.

I understand that viewpoint but im going to assume you mean ICE by the, “everything youve seen and heard”. It’s really started back in the obama administration, It’s not a new situation but rather the grandscale has been expanded. They are really just deporting illegal immigrants that didn’t come here legally. Besides the point, you are entitled to that decision but in my eyes you would be allowing politics to take ahold of your friends and family and their values rather than character.
