As a Jew of Iranian descent, I feel very weird. One the one hand I fully support Israel in the sense of protecting themselves from an existential threat and I hope the Iranian citizens can revolt against this government of theirs which (cont in comments)

Which is not a reflection of who the Iranians truly are, they are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. No one deserves to be hurt and all the blame is on the gov there trying to cause hell wherever they can influence whether it be through proxies or misogyny in their own nation.

How are they defending themselves if they hit Iran first?

I feel like a country being bombed is a very unlikely time for any kind of revolt, usually that kind of thing rallied people together behind their government, especially when the other country bombed them first like in this case But yeah, I hope the people can have a government that better represents them too, I worry it’ll be hard though, and if foreign intervention toppled the government things could get very bad in a whole different way

I met some Iranians and they were genuinely so nice even though I had a Star of David necklace. It was during the LA fires and they didn’t speak English but they went out of their way to communicate to us that they were thinking of us in the US during the fires and hoped that we were okay. It was so unexpected bc of irans relationship w both the US and jews

That relationship is one of the Iranian government, not the Iranian people (that’s not to say there isn’t antisemitism in the population but it’s just a very different dynamic)
