I don’t understand queers for Palestine. It’s one thing to support Palestinians, that’s fine. But why support Hamas? They oppress queer people in the region. At least Israel supports queer people. It’s not so b&w where one’s good and one’s bad.

Israel also catfishes and blackmails queer Palestinians to force them to act I voluntarily as spies or be outed to Hamas and their families, so while they’re better for queer people under their jurisdiction queer people in Gaza are a different story, and that association with queer people and Israeli spies makes perfect propaganda for homophobia by Hamas All that said, in curious what you mean about Queers for Palestine supporting Hamas? I haven’t seen any of those groups supporting it

Like I’m not saying I support Palestinians being killed. I’m saying we shouldn’t support their governing body who oppresses queer people. Denying the support for Hamas in these movements it’s ignorant

I think most of the “support for Hamas” is more a portion of those people seeing Hamas as a lesser of two evils than as actually being good, not for everyone but for most I’ve seen

I hear ya. I think if they truly supported queer Palestinians then they should be condemning Hamas as their governing body who oppresses them. Or even highlight how they seek a safe haven in Israel as they flee Gaza. Or their use of Hamas slogans like “resistance by any means necessary” amongst many other hateful slogans.

I think maybe we shouldn’t be speaking for queer Palestinians about what people who support them should do. Hamas is very oppressive towards queer Palestinians, Israel exploits that oppression to blackmail them into giving them intel to bomb their homes and families Hamas is bad, but it is a symptom of the problem not the source of it, and there will always be Hamas or something like it unless Palestinians get a better alternative for fighting for liberation

I think it was the head of the IDF that said something along the lines of “Hamas is an idea, it can’t be destroyed” Hamas will at most go away in name only unless the conditions that lead to its creation go away. Right now, the conditions are more rife than ever. Hamas rose to power due to the corruption within Fatah—Abbas in particular—and Palestinians not seeing another real alternative, they need another option that can actually fight for them Israel needs to release Marwan Barghouti
