Being Ashkenazi is weird. You’re too white to POC but not white enough for Europeans. I don’t get it

It’s a similar experience to what a lot of mixed race people have

Too Jewish to be POC but too culturally different to feel fully Jewish given how ashki American Jewry is

I get that, that wasn’t my experience growing up to the same extent since I grew up in a predominantly white environment but my half-Palestinian friends were mostly the only ones I really connected with on racial/ethnic stuff until I got older, but once I moved away from there I had a more similar experience

Based on genetic studies, a combination of being mixed in terms of heritage—although predominantly Levantine—and having selection pressures favouring some features including skin tone more suited to the environment they lived in (as has been true for most Jewish diaspora groups, which is why even when genetically quote different we often have traits of our neighbors)

Please don’t take this the wrong way but I feel like i have this issue predominantly in reform spaces where Judaism, from my perspective, is more cultural. In conservadox circles I think there is a greater awareness of Jewish diversity from my experience
