For one I think it’s important to distinguish between Hamas and Gazans like it is important to distinguish between the Israeli Government and Israelis as well as Jews, I also have a visceral reaction to Oct 7 being used as a commemoration day for Palestinians because it creates a space where people feel like the grief is in competition. No one deserves to go through what either the hostages or Gazans have gone through. I think we can all agree no matter how we got here, innocents are innocent…

It does to a lot of people shouting it though. The people I know personally who would say free Palestine didn’t believe the state of Israel should exist and that the Jews there should be kicked out

Also Israel isn’t an apartheid state and calling it that minimizes the harms that South Africa did to the black South Africans. Yes there is discrimination like there is in many countries. And the Palestinian Territories have different rights because they declined to form a government because it would implicitly recognize Israel if they did. The US isn’t an apartheid state bc of Puerto Rico

I agree that the state should not exist but most educated pro Palestinians don’t want anyone kicked out. Displacement goes against the goals of the movement. A few number of ppl are only anti Zionist bc they’re antisemitic. They’re mostly kids who stay behind their screens. Ppl on the streets fighting for this just want liberation for the Palestinians

South Africa and many south Africans agree that it’s apartheid. It absolutely is apartheid when you’re barred from side walks, streets, movement and full citizen rights just bc of your ethnicity The Palestinians just refused to be colonized and have their land stolen? That doesn’t mean they deserve apartheid And the US IS an apartheid state, hate to tell you

They literally left because the other Arab countries told them to leave and that’s why they aren’t citizens bc they chose to leave and so they live in the territories (or already lived there). There are Muslim and Christian citizens and they have the same rights as the Jewish citizens.

That’s a proven lie. They left bc they were literally told by settlers to leave or they were gonna be slaughtered. That is not a choice. Non Jews don’t have the same rights in Israel as Jews do

I never understood why people still claim Israel isn’t an apartheid state committing a genocide especially when all the experts on the subject have said otherwise. Also Israel shouldn’t exist in the same way Apartheid South Africa shouldn’t. South Africa is still here & white people still live in the country but it no longer exists as an apartheid state & that’s how many feel about Israel. Jews & Israeli Jew should be allowed to stay but Israel can’t continue to exist as an apartheid state doing
