during a specific time period, it was very common for jewish women to wear headscarfs like that. it allowed for easy covering of their hair with thin scarfs. tichels (which are more ashkenazi than sephardi) are traditionally worn differently. now in the middle east, especially in israel, jewish women who wear headscarfs wear them in all different kinda of styles of wrapping around their head.

Because historically a lot of Jews in Arab countries have worn hijabs, it’s just an Arab style of head covering and we have head coverings in our religion too
