reiner was using the holocaust as an comparison for the situation of Jews in Europe in 2017 to say like sometimes people really are in danger from their neighbors. and bill nye said the answer to is just getting to know your neighbors. i think he meant going forward but it sounded insensitive, especially the 100 years thing (like does he think we haven’t tried?). but also now that i know it was so long ago i really do not care that much
