I wasn’t asking about ethnicity though?

Sephardim isn’t just ethnicity, we have liturgical differences and don’t align with any of those groups, we never split the way Ashkenazim did (although some Sephardim in areas with a lot of Ashkenazim certainly are members of those groups, many aren’t)

Hmm so is it all orthodox? I know the liturgy is different but I didn’t think it made it a separate denomination

Sephardim maintain and tolerate different levels of observance within the same congregation, some stuff is gonna be more like Orthodox and Orthodox are gonna recognize Sephardi converts but it’s different and conflating them is misleading imo (altho many do)

We have differing rules and religious traditions in many areas than Ashkenazim, there are different restrictions on what we can eat for Pésaḥ, etc

sephardim is an ethnic subgroup though even if they don’t have the same concept of denominations. for the most part such as how you said that sephardim have one shul and tolerate multiple level of observance within the synagogue generallv

Sephardim are an ethnic subgroup and a different denomination, just like Jews are an ethnic group and a religion Not all Sephardim follow Sephardic liturgy, but the liturgy is distinct and has many distinct rulings and laws from those among Ashkenazim We are not orthodox, conservative, or reform, we are separate from all of these. Some consider Sephardim to be orthodox but I think that’s misleading
