zionism is a real ideology with a real definition but also “zionist” has become the new name of an old racist jewish stereotype. saying “not all jews are zionists” doesn’t help in that context bc you’re implying that most jews are in fact that stereotype. but none of us are that stereotype, even the people who subscribe to zionism the actual ideology, and that’s what we have to make people understand otherwise they just start saying anything bad is because of “zionists”

it’s like “rootless cosmopolitan” in the soviet union. you could argue till you’re blue in the face that not all jews are actually rootless or cosmopolitan and not all people who are rootless and cosmopolitan are jews. but it wouldn’t matter because no one who uses the term cares
