I said Hamas, not the Palestinian people. Their government is deeply homophobic. Why support a people who hate you? Just like it makes no sense when lgbt ppl support maga bc maga hates them. If anything I support queer Palestinians more, because I can acknowledge their government brutally oppresses them.

I’m saying it doesn’t make sense to support a movement that hates queer people. Because Gazan society is conservative. An ultra religious and homophobic society. Where queer people are oppressed. A movement that bans pride flags with Star of David symbols on it. A movement that bans “Zionists” from their circles. That if you truly care for queer gazan civilians then you should make it clear you don’t support the government and you don’t support the conservative ideology of the country.

Not really… queer people are allowed to exist in Israel, pride parades in Israel, adopt children, gender affirming care is legal, allowed in the military, allowed to donate blood, conversion therapy is banned, etc. you couldn’t say the same the other way around 🤦🏼‍♀️

Pink washing is such a stupid concept. You can celebrate Israel being a place where queer people can thrive (among other incredible things about it) and oppose other things that it does. These are not in contradiction.
