Ok is it reasonable to not want to go on an Israel spring break because it coincides with your birthday and on that specific day you’d be visiting the Nova Site or are my friends obsessed with the mortality of Israel and are weirdly judging me?

i think going will be a very meaningful and fun way to spend ur birthday. esp if this is birthright. don’t think that visiting nova will like put a damper on the whole day or like you’ll celebrate the next day or shabbot. like what would u do instead if u stayed home?

you dont have to do anything you don’t want to do on your birthday but this seems like a special and meaningful trip and experience to have with your friends. consider it, you can have a birthday party when you get back if you want

Ok thing is I’ve already been to the Nova site and it’s extremely overwhelming for me. Also a good chunk of friends are still at school. It’s not birthright it’s like a “volunteer program” that takes a week away from school (I’m a senior so everyday sort of matters for my thesis/networking)

In all fairness though they didn’t have to go to the Nova site on their Birthday.

then i think u should wait till u finish the semester! will def be more fun. ive never been to the nova site and tbh i was trying to be encouraging. i went to an exhibition and it was a lot. very sad, i cried after. it’s def understandable to not want to go bc of ur reasons. no one should judge u for them.
