Has Ilhan Omar ever said any of the kinds of the kinds of Nazis or KKK rhetoric against Jews though? I’m sure there are comments I’ve missed, but the statements I’ve seen from her about people having too much control/power have mostly been about the political lobbies of the US’s main Middle Eastern allies—Saudi Arabia and Israel—and the the critique of US oligarchy that was the center point of those rallies that Bernie did
So what you’d consider “far left” is, like, maybe your median performative liberal on social media? I feel like when you get into further left with like communists and stuff that kind of language is much less common, it’s a very liberal perspective on inequality that kinda contradicts some of the further left principles around that stuff
How is a comparison of Israel and the US to Hamas and the Taliban antisemitic? I think comparing Israel to Hamas is a strange comparison unless it’s a compare and contrast kinda thing, at least hearing that out of context, but a lot of people have compared the Christian Nationalists who’ve been dramatically growing in power lately in America to the Taliban and for good reason. Even if we said it was a bad comparison though, I don’t really see what that would have to do with antisemitism?
And there are some Jewish students that are actively supportive of certain genocides—I’ve personally spoken to one, one of the most disturbing conversations of my life—I’d guess there are some amount of students of most ethnicities who’d support one genocide or another, I wish us being Jews meant all of us would categorically reject genocide and ethnic supremacy but that is unfortunately not the case
I have met Jewish students who have also said outrageous things about certain ethnicities but I think her framing as either pro-genocide or anti-genocide is harmful given that if there is a genocide is not an established fact and that you can support Israel without supporting their crimes against Palestinians
