i think part of my reasoning is because it perpetuates weird stereotypes about sexuality and gender expression and because a lot of these same people don't give actual lesbians the light of day but fantasize over men whom they can jokingly call lesbian as an aesthetic.

To me it’s because the lesbian identity isn’t taken seriously already. Men, straight women, and even a lot of the lgbtq community they only care about the stereotypes about us and not what actually goes on in the community. Hearing shit like how lesbians are so mean to lesbians predating on straight women to lesbians actually liking men!! Now here’s a new trend about this random popular man (or some ugly boyfriend) being lesbian! How quirky!! like omfg shut up genuinely
