I still have so much internalized homophobia it makes me cry at night I want to change for the better but it’s been hard to even get to where I am now

I’ve been where you are right now—coming to terms with who we are is more difficult than it is for most people. The best advice I can give you is to just keep going. Everything may feel horrible right now, but the only way for things to get better is to just hold on until they do.

It takes a lot of work to dismantle internalized homophobia, but when I look at where I am now vs where I was seven years ago when first realized I was gay I am so proud of the work that I’ve done and happy I held on as long as I did. I can’t promise that things will get better quickly, but you have your community’s support, and I promise you that the light at the end of this tunnel is so worth it. Hold on, keep going, and one day you’ll get to look back and be proud of how far you’ve come too:)
