There’s a historical reason, but near major American cities there’s way more low key events like reading/cafe/swap meets lol

This depends a lot on your city - my local lesbian bar does a “silent reading night” lmao

at least among the people i hang out with we usually do a queer potluck once a week. we also make it a point that if we are going out to the club or bar that drinking and smoking are completely optional and not required

I feel this way too — I got sucked into nightlife/drug culture because I had no other way to have a queer community and it fucked up my life. It’s ultimately why I’ve abandoned most of the community and my identity with it
