this might be controversial but likeeee I fully believe that sexuality is fluid and evolves as you move through your life. not really a choice but it does happen
genuinely how do some straight people believe that your sexuality is a choice😭 did you choose to be attracted to the opposite sex? could you choose to be attracted to the same sex? didn’t think so babe.

its not a choice but it’s also not always completely static for everyone. if someone IDs as bi and then a lesbian, that doesn’t mean that feelings they had for men were less real, things are just different now

as a bi woman - no. some women are only attracted to women and some men are only attracted to men.

It depends though, because most of the girls ik that did this (first identified as bi, then identify as lesbian) were navigating through compulsory heterosexuality, figuring out your sexuality in a heteronormative patriarchal society can be difficult even if it’s completely static

yeah, absolutely. my point is more that it’s no one’s place to be delegitimizing people’s past experiences by saying anything before how someone currently IDs was “wrong” tho. maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t - but it’s really individual and personal, and so making broad claims that sexuality is static doesn’t help anyone

Yeah exactly, sexuality is a very personal often unique experience, not trying to make any generalizing claims like op lol

I can tell you as a lesbian my feelings for men were not real when I identified as bi. Like looking back I never actually had any attraction to men. People use this same talking point to say that I’m actually bi and not a lesbian

im not trying to invalidate your experience, just pointing out that it’s not the only one

It’s just something that is often said to invalidate the lesbian experience
