For one, sometimes POC do not feel welcome in queer spaces… there’s a good amount of microaggressions, culture vulturing, etc that alienates us, thus we create flags for ourselves so that we can know who would really welcome us (basically if you say that the flag doesn’t need to exist we know not to trust you bc you don’t see the real issue being that queer spaces can be racist)
I personally don’t think the flag should be a thing, but not for any racist reasons. I totally understand that any space can be racist, however by creating a separate flag you are segregating yourself from the larger group creating a clear “us” and “them”. This increases the division and can make the original issue worse
1. I don’t see how you’re “segregating yourself” because you’re still bisexual, you just have your own flag that indicates you’re a black bisexual, exclusive identities are made all the time for other minority groups (other poc and sometimes all nonwhite ppl, NDs/autists, systems, etc)
2. You say this increases the division, but you put the burden on us to stop said division. It’s never about what white people need to do to unlearn racism, but about how black people can make it easier for them. Always has been. Racists made the “us vs. them” yet you still think when we have our own communities/spaces we are entitled to let white people in to not further distance them as if we are the problem. Please check your biases.
