Honest question, can I call myself nonbinary if I’m afab with she/they pronouns? I have no idea what my gender is and I feel like nonbinary fits best as an umbrella term but I also don’t feel like I’m nonbinary enough to call myself nonbinary? Confusing

i'd like to add nb is an umbrella term for anyone who's gender identity doesn't conform to man or woman, regardless of your pronouns or gender expression!! you could be afab and go by she/her but still be non binary, it's all about what fits your internal experience the best :)

Crazy thing about labels is that they fit you, not the other way around. If you think nonbinary fits your sense of gender (or lack thereof??) then use it! Don’t get caught up in trying to make yourself fit into a label. And don’t let people on the internet police your identity. There’s no laws or a rule book that says when you’ve reached the threshold of being able to call yourself nonbinary :)

agree with commenter 1 do whatever u want forever ! i relate to struggling with the “not being (thing) enough” mentally so much but at the end of the day… you’re the only you & you’re the only person that knows how you feel! if calling yourself nonbinary makes you feel the most like yourself, then who’s to say that you’re not? :)
