
There may be a reason why you feel depressed, but depression makes your reaction to those things even worse and makes you focus on the negative. Medication can just make that happen less. It shouldn’t make you numb, or make you forget. But it’s also important to use cbt to refocus your thoughts towards being grateful for what you have and hopeful for the future. as someone who’s been on antidepressants for 8 year i can wholeheartedly say that your depression doesn’t just go away. it’s still very much there but it can help you get to a point to properly take care of yourself and give you the motivation to actually utilize therapy strategies. if i was in therapy alone but no meds i’d still be a mess and rarely leave the house but with both i can actually function and work on my mental health.
