i would love to be in a romantic relationship but i feel like i wouldnt be able to meet other people’s expectations of what they want from a relationship but also almost all of my non romantic relationships feel too weak and shallow

Im ace and I have a husband. He isn’t ace. It works regardless of others may say. He is loyal, I’ve tried to get him to be with other women but he isn’t interested. There’s a lot more that goes into a relationship than just sexual things. You can find the type of relationship that works for you just be open and honest with those you choose to date.

I think if your relationship only consists of what you do in your friendships, then it’s not really a romantic relationship unless you have some kind of commitment/life partnership/etc going on. But also a relationship can be anything, really it sounds like you need to do a lot of thinking about what you want from a relationship. Might make it harder to find someone but, if you look for other ace/autistic people you may have more luck meshing together

I think that they mean more that an ideal relationship would feel similar to a friendship, just closer and with a stronger commitment. I feel a similar way, where romance in general is kind of a weird concept.
