if you do well in a rage bait debate you can transmit knowledge to the lurkers the debate is for the onlookers not your opponent

i suppose but it seems harmful to constantly rage bait when respectful conversations can help ppl understand and also change their mind

i think that's fair tbh, i'm curious how rage bait is better than not responding or laying out a strong argument? is it bc it's easier, more fun, or smth else?
