My stance is kink and queer culture have always been deeply intertwined, but pride events aren’t inherently kink events, because being queer isn’t inherently sexual. Kink is amazing and you should go to kink events, but pride isn’t that and both should exist very openly and proudly. If that makes sense

Why does it matter if someone is wearing kink or bdsm gear at a place designated for that? I just don't understand why people don't go if they don't want to see it..

Probably mostly social stigma, it’s illegal, and a lot of straight people see anything queer people do as inherently sexual.

kink itself isn’t inherently queer however specific sects of kink are and they are also key parts of queer culture and history. so when you see leather daddies walking in pride parades they’re not there to cruise they’re there to celebrate their history
