Thinly veiled racism in the queer community, the majority of queer spaces out there are white centered, and don’t even get me started on the media. Hester rivalries, boots, that mf love Simon crap, Hollywood loves gay white people
Literally hate being a POC man because this community has done nothing but made me feel bad for not being white so much that I’ll show my friends a guy I think is out of my league and they say the exact opposite. Like damn I need some self respect

i hate that when one person in a couple is white, it suddenly turns into a “white centered show” in arguments like yours. one half of the couple in heated rivalries is asian, and him being asian is important to his character and identity

i get what you’re saying but boots is literally based off a gay man’s memoir about being queer in the marines and heated rivalry was a small indie production based out of canada with a person of color as the main character

Love Simon (the movie) has an interracial gay couple as the endgame, and Love Victor (the tv show) has a Hispanic main character. Did you even watch them?

So because one out of the four main characters is mixed race, it’s suddenly a diverse show? It doesn’t erase the fact that, like I said, the film industry loves a gay white man, when they love gay people at all.

And the cast isn’t the only reason I say Hollywood loves gay white men, it’s because all of these shows that I just mentioned were created specifically with white queer people in mind. With the exception of heated rivalries, that’s for straight women.

there are two (2) main characters. one is POC, one is white. it’s not a diverse show, but since the main perspective character in the show is asian i feel like it’s weird to call it a white centered show. i guess for context, im asian and it feels wrong to call it a white centered show because of how much shane’s asian identity plays out in the show. i just wish you chose a different example i guess. instead of choosing the new popular thing because it’s new and popular

and why say hollywood when it’s a canadian show that no streaming service wanted to pick up. it’s made by a gay man, written by a queer woman, has gay actors, like there’s no winning with people who make these type of arguments. and saying heated rivalry is for straight women is crazy, of course straight women will like some sort of romance, but that doesn’t make them the enemy. and the gay sports bar that i watched the finale with my gay men and women friends didn’t seem to be straight women

oriented either. heated rivalries isn’t for gay people or straight women, it’s for people who enjoy tv, or enjoy romance tv, or hockey, whatever. straight women liking something should never be a bad thing, they aren’t the enemy and never will be. don’t say it like an insult.
