Tbh I think this also comes from sex communities spilling into non sex spaces. People who don’t actually practice safe kink and BDSM use the terminology to weaponize their horrible behaviors and justify unsafe sex and relationship practices. It’s like weaponized therapy language. They know meanings of those words now bc of exposure most others know them too, and use that to gaslight acceptance into piss poor practices and blame the BDSM community to avoid accountability
