IMO bisexual is the most common default, society makes people lean forwards straight. But I’m sure there’s many who just naturally are dul straight or gay. BUT I think a lot more straight people would be bi if it was normalized
I heard someone say (who’s lgbt+) the tell me they think bisexuality is caused by porn. I didn’t know how to tell them I disagree without sounding confrontational. Porn is how some ppl realize they’re ace, straight, gay. It doesn’t make ppl anything 😕

I think this mentality is a little invalidating and can be homophobic too, because it implies all the people who are monosexual (either straight or gay) may actually be able to choose who they are attracted to and just haven’t experimented enough yet (or maybe them being gay is “just a phase after all”)

the idea that there’s a default sexuality is heteronormative bs. default sexualities don’t exist.

I think that is your own personal bias speaking. I think more people are coming out as bi because it’s more normalized and not as taboo (depending on where you live) to date other genders, but i don’t think there is a widespread of inherently bi people. I do think sexuality is a spectrum but I think only an individual should be allowed to define themself which is why we should be careful about over generalization statements

Similarly some people think that there’s a widespread over diagnosing of autism and adhd now, when in reality it’s just less taboo to get diagnosed. It doesn’t mean everyone has a little bit of autism or ADHd, it’s just means it’s OK to be defined as such now
