The root of LGBTQ+ oppression lies in the oppression of the working class. We cannot make progress if the working class as a whole is continuing to be exploited by the rich. We as a community need to focus on the importance of unions and labor politics!

You're not wrong but LGBTQ+ politics can't *purely* be reduced to class politics. It's inarguable that the oppression of the working class as whole contributes to the oppression of queer people, but lifting the working class would not automatically alleviate homophobia/transphobia/et al.

And with this it lies in the oppression of the natural world

To further expand on this, unions allow workers to make demands of the people in power. If we can reignite the labor movement we will be able to use that collective bargaining power to demand LGBTQ+ rights be guaranteed to us.

exactly. queerphobia predates capitalism. have unions made my life as a worker, and a queer worker in particular, better? yes, absolutely. are there deep connections between queer liberation and labor solidarity? necessarily. however class reductionism is incredibly harmful as it fails to consider the way capitalism interacts with other forms of oppression (not just queerphobia, but also racism, misogyny, ableism, xenophobia, etc).

I mean what? Why waste time explaining how the rich profit off the suffering of the middle and lower economic classes? How there’s constant evidence across the world of it
