Idk what this is specifically in response to, if anything, but the history behind this is super interesting. People's reasonings range from thinking gay people shouldn't engage in homophobic institutions (& that marriage is inherently a homophobic institution), that marriage doesn't work for anyone so we shouldn't invest in it, and/or that gay marriage shouldn't be a priority compared to ensuring other rights & focusing resources on that actually takes away from more important community needs
I think marriage as a whole should be reworked and or abolished. But that doesn’t mean I’m against gay marriage, I just don’t like the system ya know? I took a class where this subject came up and the queer people in that class had roughly the same take on it. It was a good discussion.
