I’m personally not religious and wasn’t raised catholic, but in my opinion I don’t see why a loving god would create gay people only for them to be wrong. Also if Jesus truly died for our sins, shouldn’t it be forgiven even if it is a sin? Also like.. if god does hate gay people or whatever, is that truly a god you’d like? Imagine being the literal creator of the universe and going “hmm but women and woman who kiss is bad.. they should be contributing to overpopulation instead”

You should look into the episcopal church. Many are more welcoming but still are somewhat close to Catholic Churches. They allow same sex marriage, female priests, and do not align with the pope or the Catholic Church but seem to be similar in the saint thing and tradition in the church

You don’t have to give up either; the Catholic Church is actually pretty accepting of gay people *in theory,* it’s policy from the Vatican so it’s wild that it’s even controversial but whatever, bigots gonna bigot ig. I’ve heard good things about the episcopal church in the US, idk about abroad, and I trust the person I heard good things from (she has a masters in Divinity and is a feminist, antiracist, and a strong ally)

op i was raised catholic but i had major ideological gripes with the church from the time i was a child, the most major of the two being its stance on gay marriage and the claim that non-believers would go to hell. your options are discard what the church believes and follow your own path, whether or not you continue to call yourself catholic, or aligning yourself with an institution that rallies itself against causes jesus himself would have supported.

The Episcopal church is very supportive and queer affirming. Similar feel to the Catholic service. And no, I don’t think you’re going against God’s plan by loving someone of the same sex.
