how so? and are hybrids ok? ideally we’d live in a world with better public transportation but i live in philly and they’re making city cuts to the service this week 😭

evs are still better than gas cars But also tesla sucks ass there are much better ev comapnies to go for

Yeah I feel you. IMO some hybrids and electric cars are ok! Tesla is bad because ofc, facist in charge. But EVs also use lithium from really destructive mines in third world countries which supply really poor labor laws/regulations

Also the batteries are really hard to truly recycle so more waste is generated

Also the chargers they use are most of the time still connected to the normal energy grid so are still supplying energy from carbon releasing sources…

the batteries are a big problem, but electric is still a huge improvement in emissions over gas, “the grid is bad” is irrelevant. the power plant might be producing carbon, but for gas cars, more than half the emissions happen before you even start your car. Oil needs to be pumped, transported, refined, transported again, pumped into the gas station then into your car, before then being burned for like 30% efficiency. Methane is released tons at a time while pumping and refining
