I get the point this is trying to make but everything in the column on the right is very much still political 😭 ā€œpoliticsā€ doesn’t just refer to issues we vote on (& even beyond that, we do end up having to vote on human rights for marginalized groups)

it’s also not cleanly separable like that because for instance if you’re voting on a plan for transit development, choices like which neighborhoods get their own light rail stops are also highly influenced by people’s attitudes towards the demographics of said neighborhoods. there’s always the question of whose needs are being prioritized and why

They are political but they aren’t ā€œjustā€ political opinions. Like those are very much so indicators of your ideology which is something I may unfriend someone over. I would not unfriend someone over opinions about the budget but I would unfriend them for voting against access to healthcare for women and trans folks because that ā€œpolitical opinionā€ is an indication that this person believes in transphobic and sexist ideologies.

Like the point isn’t that the things on the right aren’t political it’s that if you unfriend someone over that you aren’t unfriending them over politics you’re unfriending them over their bigoted ideology

like I said, I get the point the graphic is attempting to make. it just was created by someone who seemingly doesn’t know the meaning of the word ā€œpoliticalā€, and the categorical divide it’s trying to pose is oversimplified to the point of not reflecting reality (unlike the more-nuanced examples you offered)
