Severance is an awesome mindfuck drama and one of the main characters is an older gay man who develops a really interesting relationship with another employee

I really liked First Kill on netflix that had a main lesbian couple, but was totally about vampires and vampire hunters. the main couple was scandalous not at all bc they were both girls, but bc one was a vampire and one was from a vampire hunter family. sadly it got cancelled and lots of people didn’t like it, but I loved it. anyone else have any recs for LGBT+ rep w/o the “coming out” plot? :)

It just frustrates me that straight (and cis) people get all of the representation. And that even within LGBT+ rep, like 90% of it has the same general “coming out” plot (although of course executed very differently sometimes.) I get it, it’s something almost all lgbt+ people have to go through so it is very relatable. There are lots of this media I love. But I wish we could get romance plots like straight people do, where the wacky setup has nothing to do with their genders

Oh wow!! I’ve heard such great things about Severence, but no specifics and never got around to watching it! I’m definitely going to give it a watch, that sounds super interesting. Thank you for the rec!

Both seasons are incredible, highly recommend checking it out without looking up too much information.. story aside even the cinematography is something special with severance

Love that one!! I also love the Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality if you’re ever looking for a similar podcast experience (I love that one even more, though both are amazing! I just rec it to everyone I meet who liked TMA bc it’s so underrated!!)

I thought tma was kinda disappointing tbh. the asexuality is really just word of god canon, and people praised it up and down much for a thing that isnt even on the page. like theres one vague allusion which doesnt even use the word, and its a conversation btwn ppl being judgmental abt it. the fandom did all the work. outside of that it is not ace rep at all. like totally erasable from the canon romance we have. and if ur only there for the mlm romance thats fine, but the aces deserved better

I do kind of agree as an ace myself. I expected something totally different seeing all of the fan work and people talking about canon rep. Like it’s fine that there’s really not any, but I was disappointed because I went in thinking there was. I did love the podcast as a whole though, the premise, plot, etc. for sure! Love fictional podcasts so much

Friend. Thank you. I legitimately had never heard of this before in my life. I just read the wikipedia page and am literally going to start watching it today. The entire premise is amazing. And literally as I read every new cast member my eyes got wider and wider. I love like everyone involved in this, I can’t believe I’d never heard of it!!!! Thank you so much 🙏 🙏

While we’re on queer podcasts, welcome to nightvale has a gay(?) protagonist! I don’t think he ever specifies that he’s gay, but he does eventually have a husband
