it varies by individual case, but it largely happened in 2 ways: 1) by instituting anti gay laws and/or 2) by eliciting extreme anti-west attitudes that fed anti-lgbtq sentiment when the west started to become less anti gay

also worth noting that just because a country remains the religion it was before imperialism does not mean that it was not otherwise influenced
