About all the convo going on. What are some ways of non monetary community aid. And what does community aid mean and how does it differ from just giving back to the community. If I give my binders to a trans youth Center, is that mutual aid?

volunteering, donating money/items/blood/time/expertise. i used to live somewhere that had monthly mutual aid fairs, i knew someone who just showed up with her sewing kit every month to do basic mending for others. they coordinated with a foodbank, legal aid, and healthcare non-profits who had all booths, but also just every day people who showed up to help.

Ohhh!!! Okay!! I think I’ve been mistaking “mutual aid” as like big helpful things of money, and overlooking that I’ve been doing little things that count but have been seeing it as just giving back

Nah it can be as simple as showing up for other people like in a support group or at pride, you don’t need to spend any money to be a part of the community and support people

That’s so cool! I personally haven’t “volunteered” at the queer youth Center near me because I don’t have time, but I come as a youth and have helped sort through donations in their boutique and helped set it up, ran a clothing swap, stuff like that.
