The Hamilton County Coroner’s office has been reaching out to the Indy queer community to bring awareness, but only 20 folks have stepped up in the last 10 years to dna test. The coroner is an ally, and wants to do right by the victims and the community

They’ve had booths at pride events, posting on Indy queer digital spaces, as well as local news outreach. We also think the murder was responsible for the i70 strangler murders in the 70s. As a queer hoosier, I’m just trying to get the word out. DNA testing is free, and is just a swab. But the office hasn’t been able to gain any major traction on this issue.

* the murder targeted men who frequented areas around local gay clubs. We don’t know how the victims would have self identified, and we can’t narrow the victims to only being gay men.
