Btw saying "trans men really are men" and meaning it in a derogatory way is still transphobic and shitty. You should not be insulting trans people on the basis of their gender and you sound like a fucking terf saying that shit

people don't understand the concept of malgendering and it pisses me off so bad. we're still victims of patriarchy even if we're men.

I can see an argument that it is transphobic on the grounds that it assumes that all men are inherently worse than women in regard to perpetuating gender-based violence/upholding the patriarchal system. Which I agree, that is gender essentialist nonsense. But I often notice that trans men say this whenever they are being told to evaluate in what ways they may hold subconscious patriarchal beliefs. (Which is the responsibility of all ppl regardless of gender). I always feel skeptical abt this

BUT TO BE FAIR- people need to move away from gender essentialist language if we are going to have a useful conversation about how all people (including men) can address internalized misogyny

Okay so I'm not saying that doesn't happen and I've absolutely met misogynistic trans guys. But pretty much every time i have experienced or witnessed someone saying something like this it's been a) people just saying All Men Suck for no reason, b) a trans guy doing something shitty that in no way relates to gender (e.g. cheating in a relationship, being rude to someone else of any gender, taking the last cookie on the plate), or c) trans guys discussing the oppression they face from society

I have seen it in the ways you describe as well as trans guys who claim that because of their “AGAB” (I hate this terminology) they can’t be misogynistic or somehow inherently understand misogyny better than trans women. But you are right, and I apologize for the way I phrased that last part in my original comment because that definitely isn’t where this issue comes up the most- I just happen to lurk in the discourse trenches a little too often

A trans man's manhood is inseparable from his transness, so punishing or insulting him for being a man directly amounts to punishing or insulting him for being trans.

Bullshit, trans men are men not some other third thing. If somebody has something to say about men and says you're not exempt from it, then you being trans literally is irrelevant, the only thing that's relevant is that you're a man and that's why it applies
