gonna be a little #woke here but i feel like being outwardly disrespectful to religious people because they said “jesus loves you!” is counterproductive. they’re not being outwardly hateful, at least ask why they said it first.

I get it there are religious LGBTQ+ members but there are also people here with religious trauma & this also just isn’t the place to try spreading gospel like … there’s a whole forum just for christianity go there.

like some people are doing it because they’re homophobic. some people r fr trying to bridge the gap and say it to everyone. idk i know they might be a troll but i feel like not engaging or asking their intent first is courteous or whatever

i would’ve responded directly but i wanted to talk about it in a broader context because a lot of people do this. i think being needlessly hostile instead of trying to engage in productive conversation is senseless. sorry thats such a crazy take to you lmfao

i didn’t want to have a conversation with someone shoving their religion down my throat. i want to tell them how i feel about that

they aren’t shoving it down your throat lmao they made a single short comment, if they made a lot of them or did it frequently that would be different imo. it’s so easy to ignore it or just generally to have actually expressed your discomfort instead of being a dick. like i get a lot of religious people can be assholes but immediately turning to hostility the second someone brings it up at all is troublesome to me

I mean, I halfway get what you’re saying. But these zero-context “Jesus loves you” kind of things are 99.9% an effort to save/convert people, or make Christianity look good in a way with ulterior motives, like “I was supportive to the LGBTQIA community 🥹 even though they are in sin 🙏 😔 “ There are sincere posts relating to Christianity or religion on here, but they don’t look like those, because the sincere people actually know this community well enough to engage meaningfully.
