“Transphobia affects everyone, even cis people” is not the ally take a lot of people think it is. I understand that it is unfortunately the only way some non-allies might learn to care, but it still really sucks to hear over and over from “allies”

I think it’s important, as a trans person, to talk about how anti trans rhetoric harms cis lesbians and other cis women, and reflects how people used to and still do treat gay people, “I don’t want to change with a *lesbian*, like what if she LOOKS AT ME! they’re all pervs.” <- that kind of thing. But I hate when that’s all allies want to talk about because like. Yes it’s hurting cis people, but uh… also me?? A trans person? I don’t like that they only talk about cis people when the

It‘s sadly a truth I have to remind cis people of frequently… so many don’t care until it affects them and that’s just depressing.

I think it’s still important to mention because it proves how ridiculous a lot of transphobia is. But I do get where you’re coming from also. It sucks that so many people only care if it impacts them also

I think it’s important to talk about the incidences of cis women being harassed out of bathrooms because people “thought” they were trans, because they looked masculine. One was butch, one was a stud. It kidna shows this idea that women are only seen as women if they’re feminine. And that effects all of us, and especially lesbians who literally have identities based on reclaiming masculinity AS WOMEN
