I really hope my friend doesn’t make me do a speech at their future wedding cause I’m uncomfy putting myself out there in front of their racist and likely queerphobic in-laws (I’m black and trans), I hate public speaking, and I don’t like their partner

Like ik it’s their wedding so my comfort shouldn’t matter but their fiancé’s brother (who’s white) loves saying the n-word and other racial slurs and the rest of the family (also white) is weird about Asians. The casual way my friend told me all that makes me feel so weird about it. The only comfort I have is that some don’t support Trump, but idk. I just rlly hope I’m not the only poc there when it happens

your comfort does matter! just bc it's their wedding doesn't mean they get to disrespect your boundaries like honestly if I were you I would probably let them know you support and love them but feel uncomfy putting yourself in that kind of environment bc just based on your description that doesn't seem safe for you at all
