the Ethel Cain drama has shown once again a lot of people just support trans women performatively. the second something kicks off they throw us out, and show that the gender they outwardly view us as is contingent on whether or not we're likable to them.

This doesn’t apply to her fans of color that are rightfully disappointed in her racism btw, but yeah there’s plenty of ppl just being transphobic and using the controversy as an excuse

Am I a bad person for forgiving her but if she ever pulled any of that stuff again, no? I think she should be help accountable and any feelings towards her or not liking her are valid and fine but it was 8 years ago or something and she’s shown she’s very much the opposite. And I think most of the transphobia I’ve seen personally is coming from the Lana thing and Lana stans. Even if people hate her, expressing that as transphobia is hurting more than just her.

it definitely does if they're being transphobic about it! people are right to be disappointed, but there is no excuse for transphobia

This. It’s a weird situation because there are legitamate reasons to be upset at Ethel Cain and disappointed and dislike her, but there’s also people who are using that as an excuse to be transphobic. Like @realwomyn who says “Ethan Cain is a MAN who has a fetish for looking like a woman” isn’t mad at racism, dosent care about actual real reasons to be mad at Ethel, she just sees a trans woman and wants to hate

yes. i'm not saying you have to support her. but there's no excuse for the blatant transphobia being shown in a lot of these cases

to me whether someone likes her or doesn't like her is irrelevant. you may not like certain people who identify as trans: Caitlyn Jenner, Chris chan, lily tino, etc etc. the fact of the matter is their identities should still be respected. otherwise you're signaling that trans people are only valid if you like them—that you don't view trans identity as being as equal to cis identity

Yeah I fully agree with that. I hate those people but if something else came out ab them it’d never occur to me to insult that part of them. I’m a cis white woman who has been a fan of her for years and am going to see her for the second time next month and this whole thing has… idk. I guess I’ve already said my feelings
