it truly is not because the vast majority of people making the jokes do not understand the countless civilians that were violently slaughtered in the middle east in retaliation. most of the jokes are from people who were not alive for it and are not connected to anyone who was directed affected by it. yes i am 20, however because one of my family memebers was in the towers when they fell (they are okay) (lol i have a lot to say and am intoxicated this is gna be 1/?)

like yeah i wasn’t alive to witness it, but there are a lot of behaviors and coping mechanisms that my family picked up in response to the new terror around this family member going to work. it reminds me of when foreigners make the punchline of their joke about the school shootings in the usa: it feels disrespectful because of the blatant lack of knowledge and understanding

9/11 was not a set up. It was a tragedy that was then used as an excuse to wage war against countries and to murder hundreds of thousands of civilians over many years.
