So I also struggled with this a while back too and a friend explained the idea of “aesthetic attraction” to me. Like I could think a man is good looking but would I want to date that man or get close with them in any way other than platonically? At least for me, the answer to that is always no.
Honey I think you’re a lesbian. Like I’m a lesbian and I think some men are handsome. I have eyes, being a lesbian dosent mean my eyes don’t work. I don’t want to date men, fuck men, be close in any way but maybe platonic with men. I have seen men I think are cute, but many times it’s envy or they just look cool. (Alternative)
-Want to date one. I have felt the want to date other women tho, but never men. I’m just a bit confused about my sexuality, and since it’s pride week (in my country) I wanted to buy a flag for my room and a pin- so I felt that I should at least know what I am before buying something 😭
Sexual attraction, romantic attraction, and aesthetic attraction are all different. Some people differentiate them (ex: biromantic homosexual) and some people don’t (just sticking with bi or gay or an umbrella term like queer). I personally don’t really pull it out like that for myself, like I know the answer I guess, but at the end of the day I just slap the rainbow on my wall and call it a day lol
You described more pansexuality i believe. Pansexuality is more of an attraction to people’s personalities than their gender. At the very least you can get a pride flag with all the colors to represent your curiosity and non specific label. Sexuality is a spectrum at some point most people find the dont quite know where they fall on the spectrum. At the rnd of the day you are you and you are beautiful!
why /do/ you need a label? sexuality is a fluid thing; i just call myself queer. that being said, i got there by doing a lot of reading - read accounts of queer lives, and see if anything resonates with you and your experiences. i’d start with michelle tea, eileen myles, samuel r delany, vera blossom, alison bechdel, imogen binnie, leslie feinberg, casey plett, andrea lawlor, and i’d be remiss to not mention torrey peters, maybe the most singularly intelligent author i’ve ever read.
