historically it was used towards queer women as well (just not as frequently) . there's an episode of making gay history that goes into details of historical experiences of queer women. at least get it right if u wanna rage bait.
Can lesbians say the f slur?? Itโ€™s always felt weird to me bc historically it was always used towards gay men and I also donโ€™t feel comfy saying the d slur as a guy??

It was a slur thatโ€™s origin was meant for old women in the 1500s.. but when it was brought back in the early 1900s it was used as a way to call men effeminate and soft. Sure in the past women have been called that.. but the actual term in this context is a bit towards men in meaning. Calling a woman effeminate doesnโ€™t use the actual connotation that the slur means, ya know? Iโ€™ve watched all of making gay history, I just donโ€™t necessarily agree with that take

As a gay man it makes me uncomfortable for women to jokingly say f*g all the time. So I solely asked bc I was curious on others thoughts. Not trying to fucking rage bait.

it was used a ton towards gnc and butch presenting individuals... either way, are we really at the point where we have to rehash this shit every other day? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

So people can police some slurs but not others?? Like every single straight person got called that like 10 years ago but do we want straight men calling people that again?? I was just curious on peoples thoughts on the line. That is all.

you made a blanket statement about women... but you should never assume someone's experience just because they're female or cis/straight presenting...

and obviously slurs should never be used derogatorily.

So everyone should just be able to say every slur without question bc nobody knows their backstories like they do?

if you come up making a fuss about me saying a slur in public just be prepared for me to hash it out like i'm doing here. you know what they say about assumptions

Right but Iโ€™ve been called every slur under the fucking sun at one point or another.. is that the line we are choosing? Is just if youโ€™ve been called it, you can say it? Iโ€™m literally just trying to understand that perspective

the perspective is that it's not your place in the community to police other members' slur usage!

For the record, although your tone is a bit aggressive I think what youโ€™re saying makes perfect sense. I personally feel uncomfortable with anyone using slurs (in a non-meta-linguistic way) whether they can reclaim them or not, and I donโ€™t really hang around people who do. If you feel uncomfortable with women using the f-slur thatโ€™s totally valid. I donโ€™t think your interpretation of the comments is straw-manned like #2 indicated, but again I think your tone is a bit harsher than needed.
