I know that this is probably a great church that’s accepting of the queer community and everything but this is sending me 😭 “being gay is better than being a terrorist” girl the bar is in hell and those r not the only two options I’d rather someone be [rolls dice] a Macklemore fan than [throws dart at a list on the wall] set an orphanage on fire

queer-friendly churches are goated because they’re actually nice to people because they recognize everyone as deserving of love

honestly if i was raised any christian denomination besides united methodist i would probably have a deep-seated hatred for all of christianity, but if you are ever in an emergency situation of need (domestic harm, loss of housing, addiction, mental health crisis, etc.) you can knock on the door of any um rectory at any hour and pastors usually are NOT mandated to report helping you to anyone you don’t want them to

yeah we used to put together care packages for those people in our youth group. it’s great bc they don’t require you to be clean/sober BEFORE getting help which is untenable for most people (why they’re in that situation in the first place)

Left hand is mowing down oppressors. Right hand is helping a buddy out.

It depends. If this church is in a city, then yeah it’s kinda tone deaf. But if this church is in a rural area I can appreciate this being major “progress” for them. Coming from a place with so few people it’s classified as a “village,” many people still hold backwards ideas. I think many privileged people in cities and suburbs forget how hard many of us in the lgbtq+ community have it here and just what this sign means to us in a smaller town🫠
