I’m exploring xenogender myself and I like having a lot of flags to understand myself IDC

Totally feel you. Love saying fuck labels and I do usually refer to myself as just queer in passing but omg I love my little niche identity and flag so much

That’s so cool you see it as a fun quirky identity! Totally cool that you pass. Yet, not everyone gets that privilege. To many it’s much more than niche, it’s their whole being and sometimes to their discrimination. It’s not a glamorous thing

I don’t even know how to respond to that. That was so wildly off base and offensive and just your fucking audacity. Holy shit. I can be a valid non-binary person even if I enjoy a microlabel and its flag. What the actual fuck. No being queer and being enby isn’t “a niche” or something “fun and quirk” like you’re saying I’m making it out to be I’m not jfc who tf are you

I am also visibly queer and have been referred to as a “trans terrorist” by news outlets. Yes my trans experience has been privileged in many ways but you are just talking out of your ass right now and you do not know me

They don’t get to me. But I will not let them just say their shit without being corrected. I will not let that bigotry and hatred just fly like that for the sake of others at least.

Also like.. im NB/genderfluid. Most the time i look like a cis guy(im amab), just a lil alty. Doesnt make me any less NB. Stupid. Im fine with my body, my presentation and demeanor and experience are just.. different than cis men. Usually im demiboy ish. But shits fluid.

I think invalidating NB who arent “androgynous” is stupid. We exist as we are comfy or are, yk?

Neogender is a term for any gender coined after the 2000s. There are many identities under this umbrella many of which are “nontraditional” or a microlabel of trans, nonbinary, and/or genderfluidity! It’s very cool stuff and a cool way to explore your gender if you wish

This makes gender seem like more of a “dress up” rather than something you are born with. Like, choose your fav identities and go along with it. Most people who are nonbinary are born not identifying with male or female, because gender is truly a made-up concept.

It’s not choose your fav it’s understanding yourself even in niche or more complex ways than just saying “I’m nonbinary”. Also some nonbinary people do not identify as neither gender but both or multiple or a fluctuating spectrum of gender. Because gender is just expressing who you are at the end of the day and that looks different for everyone

The term neogender was probably created due to the rise of “new” gender identities (just new labels to use not new identities obvs) popping up on social media frequently. At least that’s what I’d guess. It’s not that these people aren’t valid but most people will have never heard of those identities and so it makes sense to refer to them with a category. That being said, many many micro labels existed prior to the 2000s I’m pangender which the term apparently has roots in the 80s. Cont below

It’s not “playing dress up.” Cmon be fr where else have you heard that talking point? I discovered I was pangender when I was writing a story including a nonbinary character and I wanted to look up micro labels just to learn more about the spectrum of nonbinary identities because I knew there wasn’t one way to be nonbinary. And when I stumbled upon pangender I realized it resonated deeply with me. After many months of introspection I came out as enby particularly pangender

Also even tho I consider my identity static and I’ve identified this way for years now, gender can be fluid. No everyone is “born this way”
