even if they were right (which... how would they prove it), it doesn't take away from the impact of a show loudly having two queer main characters and the whole premise be about their queerness, especially with how well it performed. can we acknowledge how important this is guys pls 😭😭

It’s really not. You guys liking a show ≠ the show being of major importance. It serves a similar purpose to Queer Eye where male queerness is shown in a light that is palatable to a heterosexual audience and makes them feel ✨💖progressive💖✨

do you not remember how revolutionary on screen gay sex was when brokeback came out. in what way is heated rivalry distinctly "palatable"?

Don’t be obtuse. Something revolutionary 25 years ago is not revolutionary now especially when it’s made with a cishet audience in mind. Once again you liking something does not make it “revolutionary”

it is actually significant in that male sports—and hockey in particular—are very much heteropatriarchal environments. it’s not ~revolutionary~ but neither is it unimportant. representation of different queer experiences, directed by a queer showrunner and with multiple queer cast members, is actually meaningful. men’s hockey has never had an out player in the top league (NHL), luke prokop made history as the first out player under nhl contract (prospect in the minors) in 2021. five years ago.

No literally but my thing was like it doesn’t matter how many straight women fetishize heated rivalry, it will unfortunately never outweigh the way straight guys fetishize lesbians
