I lowkey do understand the terf "if men can transition to women, why can't white people transition to Black people" argument because I don't actually have an answer on why only one is valid I just know I don't care if people are transgender

Maybe the difference is you kinda objectively are choosing to have a harder life by being trans in a way that's distinct from being a cis man or cis woman vs if you were "transracial" literally no one would take you seriously and nothing about your life would change except people calling you an idiot

I think that’s usually part of the point they’re making tbh, they’ve of the opinion that “pretending to be a woman” or whatever will make you look equally stupid. Race is also just.. a much different kind of social construct than gender? If they mean skin color, that’s just appearance, and if someone wants to appear different through those sketchy cosmetics, that’s their prerogative. If they mean more culturally, people are already able to make friends and fit in across races too

Some might focus more on ancestral history, which very clearly you can’t change, your parents are your parents, that’s how it goes. But the history associated with being a man or a woman doesn’t quite work the same way, even though it has a large effect in how you’re treated by society
