I remember this lady made a post about wanting a male gyno bc she was raped by a woman and everybody in the comments was like omg my eyes are opened…. Is this lady saying she was raped what it takes for y'all to open up ur eyes?

I believe in self-determination that people should do what they want as long as it doesn't harm others and THATS what guides me thru life I don't need some random on twitter to tell me what's right or wrong

i dont really get what your point is with this one tbh, it makes sense that people wouldnt have thought of the idea of someone wanting a male gyno since a lot of women especially those who have been SA'd don't want a male gyno. saying their eyes were opened doesnt mean they heard someone say they wanted a male gyno before and were like "no you shouldnt be allowed to" they just probably hadn't heard that before

The problem is that it took this lady sharing her experience to teach what should have been a “people have different experiences from my own” moment Most people don't prefer a male gyno, but I'm sure somebody does, so male gynos should exist for that person to choose from. Lots of people were also saying, even in the comments of that post, they didn't understand why male gynos even exist, but there are so many reasons outside of perversion for them existing

oh, that makes sense. "male gynecologists should not exist" is probably not an incredibly common take among most people, but i understand your point. i'd argue that hearing ppl share experiences is what helps ppl understand that others have different experiences, and thats not inherently bad. it also doesnt necessarily correlate directly with getting your beliefs from internet idols since i think people in general just struggle to conceptualize things theyve never experienced.

Well it's probably not the best example I could think of but I fear my other examples will start a war on YikYak It was crazy asf on Twitter during the male gynecologist discussion but ur right most normal people don't think that Also sharing experiences certainly does help, but it wouldn't be as needed if people could do more reflection themselves. There's no reason for people to sit in wrong beliefs simply because nobody has told them an experience than contradicts that

oh yeah i believe you on that, i don't & never have had twitter so i wouldnt have seen any of that. i think my broader point is that people don't necessarily think theyre wrong before they've seen something that contradicts their ideas. sometimes there are cases where it's ridiculous for people to have ever come to that conclusion, even based on their background, which is where i agree that reflection SHOULD be the remedy.

but i do think in some circumstances someone just thinks of an idea and goes "why wouldnt that work?" and they don't have any experiences that would lead them to believe it wouldnt, and havent met anyone who's openly had experiences that would contradict theirs. so they move forward with the idea that it'd probably work, until they meet someone who has different experiences and they realize "wait, thats a perspective i never considered" and they change their view.

i will say the make gyno debate is kind of ridiculous if someone seriously thinks make gynos shouldnt exist, like if you think about it for more than 5 minutes its obviously stupid, so... i do kinda see your point there
