I personally don’t understand the way most of the community seemingly conflates sexual orientation with gender identity. With that, I don’t believe that being trans automatically allows you to say the f slur if you identify as straight.

Im a cis masc lesbian who has been called the t slur on multiple occasions i dont think its okay for me to go around dropping the t slur just bc i have been called it

i mean if a white person was called racial slurs would they be able to reclaim them? it doesn’t 100% parallel but i think the same logic can apply. it normalizes the use of the slur from someone not part of the group and not everyone is going to have the personal context of his situation (without which is just “straight guy using f slur 🤨)

and tbh like. i think that as a trans person it’s more important to respect the relevant words. people may take his actions and position within the queer community to mean that it’s actually fine for straight people to use the f slur. solidarity etc

i agree! i was told that i was “dictating” what this person can say. i’m a gay man myself and everyone who says that they can say it isn’t.

What are your thoughts on lesbians saying it? They have also been degraded by the word throughout history, and they have shown extreme solidarity with gay men in times of need.

as an aside, I appreciate the way you engaged with this part of the convo. I’m grey-ace in a way that’s admittedly kinda confusing & inconsistent, and IME a lot of people have a tendency to get defensively sarcastic or condescending when someone else’s identity doesn’t totally make sense to them. I think this was hands down the most respectful way to answer #2’s question

people are odd about aroace people from what i’ve seen, i saw someone say that the A in LGBTQIA+ stands for ally when it doesn’t at ALL. people under the aroace umbrella will always be apart of the community 🧡
