ok im transgender and i do give a fuck if someone watches harry potter anyway identity is not an argument + what OP was saying is that interacting with JKR’s IP in any way maintains its cultural relevance which funds trans genocide (esp in the UK)

JKR has said herself that she takes any interaction with the fandom, even if you explicitly denounce her, as support

Harry Potter was one of the worst books I’ve ever read, I don’t get why people are so hung up on it 😭

It’s poorly written and takes so heavily from other series. Get over it— it’s a thing of the past. The nostalgia isn’t what you think it was. If you really prioritise some shitty series over people’s lives, you’re part of the problem and I wish nothing but misery for you.

It’s entirely nostalgia. The fandom was very queer and a lot of people found queer community and acceptance there and aren’t ready to give that up even though the queer part of the fandom has shrunk massively since JKR wrote her essay. It doesn’t excuse anything, but there is a good reason why so many people in the community are hung up on it.
